Earlier this month one of the biggest names in classical music took the stage with the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra. Despite only being 27 years old, Hilary Hahn has won a Grammy and had an album debut in the top spot on the Classical Billboard charts. After seeing her perform live, it becomes clear why she is so highly regarded throughout the world.
I checked out Syacuse Stage's A BOMB-ITTY of Errors on opening night back in April of 2008 and I have to say, it was the most fun I have ever had watching a play! Funky beats, wicked rhymes, killer comedy and off the wall dance moves made this show one of my all time favorites.
Based on Shakespeare’s A Comedy of Errors, Syracuse's adaptation is truly "da bomb!" Mixing in current events, music and pop culture with a classic story are what make this event so hard to resist.

How about visiting a place that suggests a trendy urban neighborhood in Boston or New York City, without the long drive? Interested in stylish shopping and exceptional food, casual to fine dining? Do you enjoy varied entertainment, music and nightlife?
It’s time to discover Syracuse’s Armory Square, where you’ll find it all.
Anyone flying US Airways in September 2007 had the opportunity to read a 58-page profile on our great city. It's a glowing review that focuses on everything from entrepreneurship to Dinosaur BBQ.
My favorite section featured a lifelong resident versus a transplant to our area. While their views were different, both mentioned the high quality of life and the variety of things to do.
Check out the links below to read each section of the feature. These are PDFs:

If you enjoy music of any kind, you have to check out Joe Driscoll. I first discovered him a few years ago at the Stoop (in Armory Sq). We stopped in for a margarita, but were blown away by one guy with a guitar.
The Public Art Task Force in partnership with private sponsors presents Floating Galleries of Syracuse. Floating Galleries transforms vacant storefronts into 24/7 galleries that give local artists and agencies an opportunity to exhibit their work while fostering economic development by drawing attention to available retail space.
It's first gallery opening and launch party took place on Thursday May 17th from 7-10pm (early birds welcome at 6:30).

Every year I look forward to the Syracuse Arts & Crafts Festival, held this year Friday, July 6 through Sunday, July 8, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. all days in historic Columbus Circle in downtown Syracuse. If you haven’t yet experienced the festival, you need to. If you have, I’ll see you there.
Come for the dozens of artists selling their distinctive pieces, for the great food, live music, street performers, great surrounding architecture and neat things for small kids and “big kids,” too.
Last night I saw "Spike Heels" at Syracuse Stage and it was a riot! With a packed theatre, it was so much fun to laugh along with the crowd while taking advantage of our own professional theatre here in Syracuse (which, by the way, having a professional theatre is something to be proud of!).
